1. One half of my family is Turkish therefore I found the history interesting. I do not know much about it either wich really encouraged me to pick this topic as it would give me a chance to discover more about where my family came from.
2. I really wanted to create something illustrative and started off drawing Turkish style patterns. A reason for picking this subject was so that I could apply this style to my work.
3. I found the fact that Istanbul is part of both Europe and Asia fascinating this is something I want to learn more in depth of how it occurred.
4. This summer I went interailing, Istanbul being one of the places I visited. Being in one of the busiest cities in the world with so much going on made really want to explore it in more detail.
5. In 2004, Turkey produced over 205,000 tonnes of tea. My love of English tea followed me to Istanbul where I experienced the traditional turkish tea.
6. The Bosphorus separating the two continents and merging the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara is one of the worlds busiest waterways.
7. Istanbul has been the capital of four empires since it was founded around 660BC. This made me interested to research the mythical and historic side of Istanbuls discovery.
8. Religion in Istanbul is part of everyday life. The daily routine incorporates the aspect of practice. While visiting Istanbul it was so interesting to take in the Religious traditions and the gender differences within them.
9. Istanbul is not in fact the capital of Turkey, I was intrigued to what makes Istanbul was of the best places in Europe for culture.
10. the Blue Mosque is one of the biggest and oldest mosques in the world which was something I wanted to look at closer.
