Evaluation
What is the problem?
people rely too much on mobile devices and the support of social networking. By creating virtual profiles, people spend less time communicating in conventional ways.
What subject/area are you focussing on?
The focal point is social media and mobile info-graphics on mobile phone packaging.
To what depth are you investigating this area /subject? Is this sufficient?
The subject has moved on quite a bit, looking further into statistics and facts that relate to social media and more specific areas within this.
What is the form and amount of research to date?
Mainly looked into facts and figures. Also done quite a bit of research into info-graphics regarding social media. Looking at layout and how they communicate effectively. Constructed multiple surveys for primary research, regarding certain areas of technology. Given a more realistic view on current trends.
What visual material do you have to work with?
Mostly design sheets that display the general idea of how the problem is going to be solved. Looks into different forms of design such as leaflets, flyers and packaging, all of which could be used to communicate social media.
Is there an appropriate amount of work for the time you have thad to develop it?
There is obviously much more work to be done on the idea, as it is still rather vague. However, the amount of research that has been done to get to this point is borderline acceptable in the time given.
If there isn't, why is this? How could you improve your work rate?
By creating a clear and direct plan of what needs to be done in order to reach the deadline.
What is your timescale? When is the deadline?
The deadline is on the 8th therefore, getting making a firm decision on which route to go down in terms of design, needs to happen. Once this has been made, its a matter of making the design into ten products successfully.
What is achievable in the time available?
Creating ten mobile phone boxes that solve the problem.
What methods are you using to evaluate the process of you ideas?
Mainly using trial and error as the product will be 3-D, a few mock ups of nets have been tested to find the correct size and a beneficial layout for the info-graphics.
Focus
What are you identifying as areas worth developing further?
The area of how social media is something many people rely on this day in age. It is something that could be worth looking into further in terms of changing the way people use it, as many people use it for the wrong reasons.
What are you trying to communicate?
Trying to communicate the the relationship between mobiles and social networking.
Trying to communicate the the relationship between mobiles and social networking.
What audience have you identified?
It is quite a broad target audience. Targeting mainly the younger generation who are signed up to various social networking sites and rely on a mobile.
It is quite a broad target audience. Targeting mainly the younger generation who are signed up to various social networking sites and rely on a mobile.
Who are they?
Members of the general public who are likely to go into a phone shop and purchase a smartphone.
What problem(s) have you identified?
In general it is quite hard to find the appropriate format to communicate the facts and statistics of social media.
In general it is quite hard to find the appropriate format to communicate the facts and statistics of social media.
How do you intend to solve these?
By using phone packaging and it links well to the purpose of a mobile in the current times. Therefore people who buy these phones are most likely to read the info graphics and relate to them.
What further research does this require? (what, where, who, when?)
Looking into how simple and direct the info-graphics need to be in order for people to actually look at them and understand. Depending on the age of the audience, they need to be legible and eye-catching.
What is your intention?
To ensure the packaging successful communicates info-graphics regarding social media and mobile usage.
Development
Have you moved on from your initial starting point. If so, how and why?
The orignal starting point for this project was looking at technology, however as this is a very broad topic it was important to pick a more specific focal point within this area. Thats how the idea of researching social media came into play. Also because it is such a relevant issue this day in age, it seemed appropriate.
What methods are you using to document this development?
Mainly just by design sheets but also but by collecting and researching.

What processes will you need to use to develop your work?
The process will be mostly digital with incorporation of illustration.
Do these processes require workshop access?
The digital print room will need to be accessed when ready to print the final products.
When do you intend to access these workshops?
Thursday the 2nd of February as that is when the print slot is.
